To share my wine journey by trying a new bottle of wine every week, then documenting the result. Commentary includes cost, pictures, and interesting tidbits, and the wine is almost always under twenty dollars a bottle.
The Wine Dilettante began a few years ago, when I started exploring the wines at our local grocery store. I couldn't remember which ones I liked or even if I'd tried them before.
My solution was to make a website where I catalogued what I'd tried and what it was like. I tried to keep note of the cost as well. It was fantastically useful. Along the way I started learning neat things about types of wines and why we use different glasses, just lots of cool trivia, so I recorded that too! The site was also only available in our house (local network) and has unfortunately since gone missing.
I recently decided to revisit the idea, only this time make the information available to everyone. That means starting from scratch, since I didn't back up my site. Ouch. It was a fun journey though, and absolutely worth starting over! I didn't know much about wine when I started, and I don't know a whole lot about it now either, but as I learn I'll be sharing my newfound knowledge with you, Dear Reader.
Cheers, I hope you enjoy!
Aging, it's not just for wine!
